Upscale Pet-Friendly Hotels

Until recently, only lower quality hotel chains allowed pets to stay in-room. Now, finding lodging for Fido or Kitty is getting easier. There are more upscale pet-friendly hotels today, and some even roll out the red carpet for your pet’s little paws to enjoy hotel amenities as much as you do.

The GO Group, an airport shuttle provider at more than 60 airports worldwide, has shuttled its share of dogs and cats to and from flights. Because they have experience within so many U.S. and international markets, our best friends of airport shuttling can provide some insight regarding pet-friendly hotels for your best friend.

Courtesy Go Group’s list, it is clear that you do not have to sleep on a cardboard mattress or give up your favorite amenities to accommodate your furry travel partner.

Hotel Monaco of Alexandria, Virginia, a Kimpton Hotel.

Kimpton Hotels

Boutique chain Kimpton has gone so far to welcome four legged guests that they even employ Directors of Pet Relations at some properties. Considered the best of the bunch when it comes to pet-friendly hotels, Kimpton’s pet services are a wonderful array of welcoming amenities.

At Kimpton, pets are greeted by name and provided with plush beds, cuisine and water bowls. The pet parent receives courtesy dog walking bags and a concierge list of parks, groomers, shops and even pet-friendly restaurants nearby. An invitation to the nightly complimentary wine reception is a great social introduction to other pet owners staying in the hotel.

The best amenity of all is that Kimpton does not charge an additional fee for pets. If you are feeling sad that you do not have a pet or yours is not with you, Kimpton will provide you with a courtesy pet fish for the duration of your stay.

Hyatt Centric The Loop Chicago

Hyatt Hotels

Many Hyatt Hotels properties provide pet services and accommodations. Dogs, and even cats in some of the brand’s hotels, are provided with a welcome letter and door hanger upon check in. They also are loaned a dog bed and bowl. Being given a special identification tag and treats makes even weary traveling dogs feel right at home.

Hyatt does have size and breed restrictions in their pet-friendly hotels. Generally, one dog up to 50 pounds or two at a combined weight of 75 pounds are welcome per room, in hotels with pet accommodations. A non-refundable fee applies and three days of advance notice are required when bringing a dog or cat along for your stay. With a little planning, staying at Hyatt is an excellent option for comfort and companionship when traveling.
